Moderate alcohol consumption is associated with lower risk for hip fracture and low bone density. People drinking about half to one alcoholic beverage a day were found to be 20% less likely to suffer hip fractures.
BTW moderate means one drink a day or less for women and two drinks a day or less for men. Drinking more than twice a day will tend to increase risk for hip fracture too. So it’s gonna be two and no more than that. Alcohol was found to help increase circulating estrogen which also helps keep our bones strong. Calculating your own risk no one who doesn’t drink alcohol should start drinking alcohol because of this research.
