A 500 year old shipwreck with treasure was found off the coast of South Africa. The ship was said to contain tons of copper ingots, elephant tusks, gold coins and cannons. The cannons were apparently to keep those pirates off the ship.
Namdeb Diamond was clearing and draining a stretch of seabed in order to build an earthen wall when they stumbled on a few ingots. The earthen wall was created in order to keep the water out so a group of geologist may be able to work on the area. The find made them temporarily stop their task and invited an expert in the field to figure out the find and help search the wreck. They were still trying to fit the pieces of the story together by doing research in museums and libraries in Cape Town, South Africa.
Great find great story. Now I am off to finding shipwrecks and whatever waves would be ashore. Never thought about it but I think this is fun. What about you?
