An extensive genetic study suggests that the human population almost got extinct 70,000 years ago because of drought. Today the threat to humanity is still extinction. Apparently the causes are war, global warming and ozone depletion. Carbon dioxide is fast building up in the earth’s atmosphere because of industry and vehicle emissions. The growing problem of global warming is giving the scientist a headache. Lower ozone levels will allow the sun’s ultraviolet rays to pierce through the atmosphere that may pose a problem to health and life. The ultraviolet rays may cause skin cancer and DNA damage among plants and animals.
Trying to artificially cool off the planet may have perilous side effects. Climate change is already a major threat. These scientist and researchers are calling on people to take active responsibility in taking care of the planet. Government should be actively educating their people regarding ways and ideas on how to take care of the ozone layer. Government agencies shall also be active in preventing pollution from vehicles and industries. Industrialization progress improves life but it also depletes human population without proper monitoring and regularization.
