Academic writing is great if you love research! Academic writing even if it is only a college essay involves intensive research. If you start on being an academic writer, make sure that you are prepared to do more than what is required in a paper – your time and your energy to research and write!
Many writers do not survive academic writing. They love to write more about blogs and articles. That I can understand, because aside from the effort and valuable time spent on research, you need to make a good analysis of the paper that you are writing which are sometimes mathematical or technical in nature. Make sure that you have available resources before accepting mathematical or technical papers especially when in involves surveys.
Academic writing is great but make sure you do not overindulge yourself lol. What I mean by overindulge is that you do not take more than you can write in a specific period. Academic papers have their preset deadlines. You need to be confident and fast enough to meet the deadline of the paper you have agreed to write.
Deadline is important and it is the basic requirement of taking academic papers. If you cannot meet the deadline then do not take the assignment because there are companies who will penalize you for late submission. Another thing to remember is the writing format and the topic. Make sure that you know how to cite materials in the format specified. The most convenient format that I know is the APA format. For me, this is the best format I enjoy writing using this format. Academic writing is tough but you will enjoy it if you love to read and research.
